IT might well have been the season of goodwill but that didn’t prevent intense competition – and more than a little fun – at the under 16 Christmas competition, sponsored by Jason O’Connor, at Deerpark Pitch and Putt Club in Killarney at the weekend.
Skilled and enthusiastic young players from Listowel and Tralee made the journey to town for the occasion to pitch their wits against the local competitors.
Killarney’s Robbie Harnett, Nathan Cronin and Dara Wickham with Sarah Cox from Listowel were the jubilant winners on the day.
Runners-up were Joey McCarthy, Ella Moynihan (Tralee) and Bryan O’Leary and finishing in third place were Ben Kelliher and Sophie Moynihan (Tralee) with Colin Looney and Conor Cox (Listowel).
The under 16 Club Matchplay event is set for Thursday, December 23, as things currently stand.
Meanwhile, the Danny Nolan Memorial is scheduled for St Stephen’s Day once again this year, commencing at 10.00am.
The format is an 18-hole three-ball scramble and it is a bring your own prize event once more this year.
