The person who ordered a burger – without the pickles – at a Killarney fast food premises in the early hours of Sunday morning mightn’t have realised that a receipt containing details of the debit card number used in the transaction was inside the empty carrier bag which was later found dumped on the side of the road.
The filth was left for others to clean up – and one Good Samaritan obliged – but the inclusion of the receipt certainly made events a little more interesting.

It shows that the customer spent €5.10 on the order, the precise time it was purchased and the Visa debit card information supplied – although not complete on the receipt – is sufficient to enable the authorities to find out the identity of the owner.
The bag, containing the empty burger box and wrapping, serviettes – and the receipt – was found by a passer-by on a pedestrian trail along the scenic Fossa Way, just at the side of the main Killarney-Fossa road and it may have been ripped by crows or other animals.
It seems likely that the burger muncher might not have been aware that the receipt was in the bag as it clearly contained an appeal from the conscientious team at the restaurant to all customers to please dispose of their litter thoughtfully.
On the off-chance that the person responsible might need the receipt for VAT purposes – or the five-digit code to enter a competition for a discounted meal – they can give us a shout here at KillarneyToday.com and we’ll be only too happy to put them in touch with who they need to speak to.
