THE first step in an overall plan to synchronise traffic lights on the Ross Road and Woodlawn junctions, both leading on to the busy Muckross Road, will commence on Monday next.
Civil works for the upgrade of the Ross Road junction will commence on Monday morning and, when that work has concluded, attention will turn to the Woodlawn junction.
Plans for the junctions upgrade and synchronised traffic lights, at an estimated cost of €65,000, had been hindered by technical issues which have now been sorted.
Welcoming the start date for the Ross Road-Muckross Road upgrade, Deputy Mayor of Killarrney, Cllr Niall Kelleher, said it has been promised for a long time and he was glad it was now going ahead.
“I hope it will make a difference for residents in the area and that traffic will flow better, particularly during the busy summer months,” Cllr Kelleher said.
