Work on building currently being completed

Closed: Main Street with the building at the centre of the incident on the right

Main Street in Killarney, which has been closed as a result of debris falling from a building on to the pavement, is expected to be fully reopened by 2.00pm this Thursday.

Kerry County Council has been working closely with the relevant property owner, their appointed structural design engineers and contractors in relation to the closure since last Friday afternoon.

The structural engineers completed their assessments and contractors have commenced work. All work adjacent to the public road is being carried out in consultation with Kerry County Council.

Following final completion of the design and site set-up, it is expected that Kerry County Council will be able to lift the emergency closure and reopen the road and footpath to all traffic tomorrow afternoon.
