The Munster Technological University in Tralee has marked a significant milestone with the topping out of the new Science Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) building on its North Campus.
The building, due for completion in summer 2025, will provide new lecture theatres, classrooms, machinery workshops, halls and laboratory space when it opens. It will also expand MTU’s portfolio of programmes and services and will play a vital role in achieving the vision of MTU, significantly enhancing the university’s number of STEM graduates.
The new three-storey building will help MTU as it strives to deliver the STEM graduates of the future for the southwest region and beyond with programmes offered at apprenticeship, degree, Masters and PhD level together with a suite of lifelong learning and research opportunities.
The STEM building is being delivered by Enbarr Partnership, comprising equity provider Macquarie Capital Group Ltd., construction contractor JJ Rhatigan & Company, and Sodexo Ireland Limited who have responsibility for facilities management.
The project is part of the Department of Higher and Further Education, Research, Innovation and Science’s Higher Education Public Private Partnership programme, which is also seeing the development of a new learning resource centre on MTU’s Bishopstown Campus in Cork.
