Woman airlifted to hospital after fall

Rescue team volunteers at the scene of the incident

A woman aged in her 70s sustained multiple injuries when she fell 30 metres on Cnoc na Toinne in the MacGillycuddy’s Reeks on Tuesday afternoon.

The casualty was
carried by stretcher to a safe location

Kerry Mountain Rescue Team volunteers were alerted at 4 o’clock and they treated the casualty at the scene before carrying her on a stretcher to a safe location where she was airlifted by R115 coastguard helicopter.

She was subsequently transported to University Hospital Limerick for treatment but her injuries were reported not to be life threatening.

The rescue operation, which involved 18 members of the team, concluded at approximately 10.00pm.
