THE new Miss Kerry will be crowned in Killarney at the weekend.

Kerry’s representative for the Miss Ireland pageant will be selected at a gala ceremony in the Brehon Hotel on Saturday night.

The task of choosing a winner will fall to fashion photographer Pawel Nowak, reigning Miss Kerry Máireád Breathnach and stylist Aideen Feely.

There are several representatives from Killarney involved and all the girls are sponsored by various businesses.

The contestants are Maryann Sullivan, Blathin Griffin, Niamh Enright, Lydia Coughlan, Shauna O’Connor, Aoife Sheehy, Saoirse Coffey, Bernadine O’Dowd, Karen O’Shea, Denise Hickey, Shannen Clarke, Toni McCarthy, Naoimh Whelton, Patricia Kerins, Sophia Rochford, Ailish Conway, Shannon Lonergan, Darlene Lacey, Jodie Fitzgerald, Shona McGlynn, Emma Nolan, Jessica Healy and Blathnaid O’Callaghan.

This year’s finalists gathered for a special photo-shoot with Killarney photographer, Padraig Healy of Evoque Photography, at the Brehon at the weekend but four contestants, Saoirse Coffey, Shannen Clarke, Shannon Lonegan and Sophia Rochford, were unable to be there.

Next Saturday night’s show will get underway at 8.30pm with entertainment by the Cassie Leen School of Dance.
