What is to become of the Conroy Hall?

Conroy Hall: Concern has been voiced over the state of the building

Concern has been raised in Killarney about the state of the SIPTU building on Park Road which has fallen into disrepair.

Once a bustling and busy building, where Labour Party TD s and councillors had offices and trade union meeting were regularly held, the Conroy Hall was also home to packed Sunday night bingo sessions for several years.

In 2019 the building closed following issues over fire and safety regulations.

The condition of the building was raised at a meeting of Killarney Municipal District Council this Wednesday where agreement was reached, following a proposal from Cllr Donal Grady, to write to the owners in relation to their future plans for the property.

The SIPTU building is dedicated to John Conroy the former president of the ITGWU. It is located adjacent to Ardshanavooley housing estate neat a small industrial estate just off the main Killarney-Cork road.
