Welcome home to the country’s Christmas capital

Those returning to Killarney for Christmas received an incredible embrace on Friday night with a special Christmas in Killarney welcome home parade through the streets of the town.

The final parade of the hectic season of celebration once again saw the streets lined four-deep with people anxious to see the fabulous festive floats, the festooned vintage tractors, the delightful Disney characters and, of course, Santa Claus who assured all the boys and girls that they were on his ‘nice’ list this Christmas.

The parade left Fitzgerald Stadium and wound its way through Lewis Road, College Street, Plunkett Street and High Street and the atmosphere, whipped up by top class master of ceremonies Kieran Healy, was quite incredible.

The weather gods played their part and there were smiling faces everywhere as Ireland’s Christmas capital have a rousing welcome home to those returning to their families and a hearty ceád mile Fáilte to visitors.
