AFTER years of continuous breaks, major water pipe replacement works have finally begun in the area from Barleymount to Flynn’s Forge.
The total funding allocated to the project amounts to €390,000 which comprises €300,000 from Flynn’s Forge to Aglish and €90,000 from Coolroe Cross towards Barleymount.
Mayor of Killarney, Cllr Brendan Cronin, said the improvement works should benefit over 2,500 homes in the mid Kerry district, from Aghadoe to Rockfield and from Milltown/Listry to Ballyhar, including all townlands within this area.
“Residents in this area have suffered for years with continuous water breaks and I am delighted to have been able to secure and deliver this funding. The pipe network in mid Kerry is appalling for 21st century Ireland,” Mayor Cronin said.
