A warning has been sounded that there will be a tsunami of small businesses being forced to close as a result of government inaction to help under pressure hospitality operators.
Cllr Niall O’Callaghan said the word ’hospitality’ wasn’t mentioned once in the Budget and the industry is being left behind.
“The Government has absolutely left small businesses out to dry. A lot of crazy thing have happened to the trade and not once was anything done to help them,” he told a meeting of Kerry County Council this Monday.
Cllr O’Callaghan said he travelled to Dublin to take part in the protest organised by the hospitality industry and he’d do so again tomorrow and every day to help highlight the issue.
“Hospitality was left outin the Budget and there will be a tsunami of restaurant and pubs and small businesses closures if there isn’t something done,” he said.
