THE inaugural Wander Wild Festival, planned for Killarney from March 27th to 29th inclusive, has been deferred following best practice advice from the health service agencies.

The committee spearheading the great outdoors festival, in conjunction with the board of Killarney Chamber of Tourism and Commerce, confirmed that the Wander Wild Festival will now take place on March 26th to 28th in 2021.

The decision was reached following nationwide public health concerns over COVID-19 which are unprecedented in modern times and the organising committee is acting in the best interests of public health, the local community, visitors and festival volunteers.

The festival team is working to communicate, as quickly as possible, with the large numbers of people who have bought tickets for various events and those who are involved in the running of the activities.

Given the widespread appeal of the festival, this may take a little time and the committee members have asked those involved to bear with them as they take immediate action to cancel events.

“The Wander Wild committee would like to thank our partners, sponsors, participants and volunteers for their understanding, support and patience at this very challenging time,” said Festival Chairman Pat Chawke.

“We had a wonderful festival lined up, packed with fantastic outdoor and indoor events and activities and brilliant speakers and it had attracted great interest nationally and internationally as well as locally,” he added.

Pat Chawke added that while the festival itself is deferred, the magic of Killarney and the National Park are still there to be enjoyed and the great Killarney outdoors is still available to explore.

Anyone who has concerns or queries is asked to get in touch on info@wanderwildfestival.com or call 087-2161669 and the committee will work hard to address these queries as promptly as possible.
