A Solstice charity walk on the Paps of Anú, on the Kerry-Cork border, has raised an impressive €3,700 for the Kerry Hospice Foundation.

The Solstice gathering at the summit was dedicated to the memory of late Johnny ‘The Rock’ O’Brien, from Glenflesk, who died in a tragic fire at his home in late 20222.

A rendition of Johnny’s favourite song For these are my mountains was sung by Derry Healy at the summit of the walk with which he was very familiar.

The traditional Sliabh Luachra set dance was also enjoyed and accompanied on the accordion by Michael McGillycuddy.
