There was a real air of sadness in Killarney this Sunday when news broke of the sudden death of Vincent Lacke who was a real community man with an absolute passion for Killarney.
Vincent was very well known through his involvement with the Kerry Stars Special Olympics Club and he was an active member of the St John of God community.
He was also very closely associated with Killarney Celtic FC which is a club very dear to the hearts of his sister Mary, and her husband Mikey Lyne.

Celtic official Paul Sherry remarked: “Mary, Mikey and family cared for Vince’s every need for many years. Our thoughts and condolences are with them all at this difficult time”.
Vincent worked at Tesco in Deerpark, looking after the needs of customers and he was a very familiar and friendly face to those that shop there.
An avid gardener, he was also a dedicated volunteer with the Killarney Tidy Towns group and his presence will be greatly missed by his fellow volunteers.
“Vincent was a real stalwart who was always ready and willing to play his part in ensuring Killarney was looking good,” said committee member Johnny McGuire.
“He was one of life’s true gentlemen and it was always a pleasure to meet him and his loyal dog who was always by his side,” he added.
Vincent’s long time canine companion Lizzie died a few months back and his new dog, Bailey, was a regular by his side up until his untimely passing.
