A camogie blitz, described as a testament to the enduring legacy of local woman’s contribution to the sport in the Killarney area, was a huge success on Sunday.
The Veronica Stack Camogie Tournament involved thrilling matches across all age groups with teams competing in under eight, under 12, under 15 and junior divisions.

The late Veronica’s father, Hugh, along with her husband Jason and sisters Joyce and Clodagh, were all present to award medals to the participating players.
Also there were Veronica’s daughters, Kate, Niamh and Sadhbh who also played in the junior game, adding a very special touch to the day’s events.

Teams from Killarney, Causeway, Inniscarra, Cillard and Ballinascarty, Causeway, and Killarney took part at the venue in Spa GAA club.
The day also saw the presentation of new jerseys to the newly formed Killarney junior team who will participate in the Mai O’Connell tournament in November.
The Veronica Stack Camogie Tournament was a resounding success, thanks to the fantastic weather, the enthusiastic participation of all the teams and the tireless efforts of the volunteers, referees and the committee.
A native of Wexford, Veronica worked in tourism in many parts of the world before settling in Killarney in 1997 where she continued her professional life in the hotel industry.
She and her husband, Jason, had three daughters and they all became very involved in sports, much to Veronica’s delight.
Veronica, who passed away in 2013 following an illness, at the age of 46, was one of the founder members of Killarney Camogie Club and the game has really progressed since then and that was was very much in evidence in the tournament named in her honour at the weekend.
