A STUNNING photograph showing a sheep farmer and his dog busily attending to their chores has earned a Killarney photographer a national award.
Valerie O’Sullivan’s fabulously atmospheric and dramatic picture is of Séamus Ó Cíobháin and his highly skilled sheepdog, Floss, set against a spectacularly scenic backdrop at Dún Chaoin, Slea Head.
Séamus is driving his ewes towards Clogher Head after feeding nearby and Valerie’s image captured the ewe of the adjudicators if the prestigious Agri Guild Awards.

The awards, hosted by the Guild of Agricultural Journalists and sponsored by FBD Insurance, was streamed live on Friday and Valerie’s photograph – titled Wild Atlantic – was named the best of the lot, much to her delight.
The awards, which feature a number of categories, are hugely important in acknowledging the skills, expertise and creativity of journalists and photographers.
The judging panel featured Johnny O’Hanlon, Director of Local Ireland, Karina Pierce, Anna Marie McHugh, Richard Wright and Declan Malone.
