TURN BACK TIME: This was the talented Dr Crokes under 12 squad that dominated their age group in East Kerry way back in the early 1970s.
They are pictured on the outside pitch at Fitzgerald Stadium and the side featured a number of players that went on to become household names in the Kerry GAA.
Second from the right (kneeling) is Pat O’Shea who grew up to become one of the all-time great Dr Crokes players as well as managing Kerry to an All-Ireland senior championship victory. Pat also starred in the black and amber jersey when the Crokes won the All-Ireland Club Championship in 1992 and he managed them when they repeated that great achievement in 2017. He will be hoping to do so again when the Kerry kingpins meet Corofin of Galway on St Patrick’s Day.
Second from left in the middle row is Connie Murphy, one of the stand-out Kerry players from 1988 to 1994 and an All-Star winner in 1989. He is regarded as one of the best Kerry player not to have won an All-Ireland championship with his county.
