‘I am trying to bring a little bit of Vegas to Killarney’

Spot the difference: Liberace and Jack Patrick

A KILLARNEY entertainer has said he is “absolutely over the moon” to have been described as a modern day Liberace by two national radio show presenters who attended his show.

Jack Patrick Healy, the in-house pianist and singer in the Liquid Lounge in Killarney, performed for popular Today FM show hosts Dermot Whelan and David Moore when they visited town last week.

And it made his night when they compared him to Liberace – the flamboyant, all-frills showman who was the highest earning pianist of all time and packed venues all over the world.

Dermot and Dave also observed that the Liquid Lounge reminded them of the famous Liberace’s Mansion.

“Like Liberace, I put on a colorful show and while I started out with a jacket and bow tie, but now I wear colourful, sparkly, sequined jackets which add another layer of fun to the performance,” Jack Patrick told KillarneyToday.com.

“Liberace was a big star in Vegas and I am trying to bring a little bit of Vegas to Killarney in my shows,” he added.

Jack Patrick, from Beaufort, is inspired by the music of Billy Joel and the flamboyance of Elton John and he described his performance as a merger of the two, with Joel-style music and Elton-like colour.

He plays in the Liquid Lounge every weekend and he had added an earlier second show on Fridays when he performs all the big musical hits in a show he calls Broadway Jack Patrick’s Way.
