Train times revised as Covid-19 crisis impacts

IRISH Rail is revising its timetables across all routes – including to and from Kerry – in response to the Covid-19 crisis.

New train departure and arrival times will come into effect from next Monday until further notice.

The changes will be part of new schedules being introduced across public transport on a phased basis, as approved by the National Transport Authority.

Customers should check times online well in advance of any planned travel and Iarnród Éireann said it will maximise train size, wherever possible, to ensure social distancing on board.

“The revised schedules will ensure we can provide a continued and reliable service to customers, taking account of any possible escalation of Covid-19 or self-isolation amongst employees and supply chain issues being faced for train maintenance,” the company said in a statement.

Management have been monitoring passenger loadings on services across the network throughout the Covid-19 crisis and the information drawn from that process, along with the most up‐to‐date advice and guidance from the health authorities in relation to physical distancing, were taken into account when putting together the new timetables.
