An introductory course on outdoor recreation and responsible access on the mountains, tailored specifically for frontline hospitality staff in Kerry, is being offered by two local experts.

Piaras Kelly of Kerry Climbing and Colm Burke of the Kerry Mountain Rescue Team will host the free course in association with the MacGillycuddy Reeks Mountain Access Forum and the Kerry UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.

It is aimed at staff who cater for a growing number of outdoor recreational visitors to the region and it will inform and best advise participants how to appropriately communicate to customers the principles of responsible and safe access on the MacGillycuddy Reeks including Ireland’s highest mountain Carrauntoohil.

The one-day course will be offered free of charge on two separate days but places are limited so early booking is essential.
