Top chef makes his Mark at food fair

Mark Moriarty’s debut cookbook – Flavour: Everyday Food Made Exceptional – has been deemed a winner

A very talented chef, who started cooking as a teenager during his summer holidays in Kerry, is the recipient of the 2023 Listowel Food Fair Book of the Year Award.

TV chef Mark Moriarty was just 15 years of age when he worked at the Chart House restaurant in Dingle while on his summer holidays and, during that time, he learned so much about food and its preparation.

His debut cookbook – Flavour: Everyday Food Made Exceptional – published by Gill Books, was deemed a winner in Listowel which came alive this week during one of Ireland’s longest running food fairs

Mark, 31, was presented with a specially designed crystal vase by Niall Geoghan of Tipperary Crystal to recognise this remarkable debut achievement.

Enjoying Listowel Food Fair were Conor Slattery, Kerry Local Enterprise Office, Mairead Moriarty, Listowel Food Fair, Jimmy Deenihan, Listowel Food Fair Chairman and Billy Keane with Savstida Harikrishana, Ellie Mai McMahon, Elza Mortimer and Mia Nolan.
