Tom kept it in the Kingdom at Killarney

On Monday, the official curtain closer of the season at the track, all patrons enjoyed free admission

The final meeting of the season took place at Killarney Racecourse on Sunday and Monday and the penultimate day of the season provided a thrilling national hunt card with seven exciting races over jumps.

Eric McNamara’s purple patch continued from the five winners he clocked up recently at Listowel when Say It So won the Ross Castle Handicap Hurdle under jockey Calum Hogan.

Tralee trainer Tom Cooper kept it in the Kingdom with Brave Adam claiming victory in the Ross Golf Club Beginners Chase for jockey Tom Kelly and owner Ciaran Mooney. The six-year-old is a brother to King George winner Bravemansgame.

On Monday, the official curtain closer of the season at the track, all patrons enjoyed free admission, a well-received gesture from the management of Killarney Races gifted to their loyal racegoers as a token of their appreciation for their support throughout the season.

The pace also went up a gear on the track as the flat took centre stage. Champion jockey Colin Keane recorded a treble on the card, the final leg of which saw him register his seventh annual Irish century of winners aboard John Murphy’s Sea Chariot in the Torc Travel Handicap.

Keane commented: “I was coming with nice rides and was hoping to get one winner but to get three is a bonus.”

Race Company Chairman Billy O’Sullivan

Killarney Racecourse Chairman Billy O’Sullivan said there were fantastic winners and a wonderful atmosphere on both days.

“I would like to thank all our patrons, supporters, sponsors, industry personnel and, of course, our wonderful team here at Killarney Racecourse without whom racing would not be possible,” he said.

“We enjoyed a wonderful season and plans are already underway for an even bigger and better season next year,” he added.

In 2025, Killarney Races will host four racing festivals in May, July, August and October. Tickets for all festivals including general admission tickets, punters packs, dining and hospitality and racegoers club memberships will be available online soon at www.killarneyraces.ie.
