Scott’s Lakers St Paul’s won’t be straying too far in the coming weeks with a run of fixtures including three home games in a row and the first Killarney derby of the new season on the menu.
First up this Saturday, October 22 will be the Limerick Celtics followed by the Fr Mathews from Cork on Sunday, October 30. The Abbey Seals Dublin Lions will visit the Killarney Sports and Leisure Centre in the first round of the National Cup on Saturday, November 5 and the Presentation Gym will be the venue on Saturday, November 12 for the clash with the Killarney Cougars.
Limerick Celtics currently stand top of the League with three wins from three and in Joshua Reynolds and Scott Angus they possess a formidable scoring double act. American Reynolds is averaging 34 points per game while Angus is hitting close to 26 points.

Angus is joined by fellow Scot Miles Felletti while Eoghan Donaghy is an impressive performer also. Jordan Hehir and Cian Gleeson also provide some serious back as the Celtics have been dominant in their wins over Fr Mathews, SETU Carlow and Killarney Cougars. so the Lakers will have to be on song for this clash.
On song was what they were last time out when they easily disposed of SETU Waterford Vikings on a 99-71 scoreline. Recently arrived Jack Ferguson led the way with 34 points and the two weeks he would have spent integrating himself into his team mates and indeed the local community will have him feeling more at home.
Irish underage international Ronan Collins is starting to click into gear and the recovered David Gleeson, fully fit from a recent injury, will be a huge plus.
Marko Bencic made a very impressive season debut in Waterford while captain Rui Saravia was very productive at both ends. Senan O’Leary, Jack O’Sullivan and Jamie O’Sullivan have all contributed to the scoring returns while the return of Mark O’Shea from GAA action is a massive boost.
O’Shea plays with both a great intelligence and intensity while his strength and durability are ideally suited to defence.
With Esebio Strijdhaftig sidelined with injury recently and the October 31 deadline for registering new players looming, the Lakers have snapped up 6ft 9 centre Aron Walker.

The giant Swede played Division 1 College Basketball in the USA and also in the top flight in Norway and Sweden.
With his physique, rebounding will obviously be amongst his strengths and with left handers being notoriously hard to defend against inside, it’s hoped his scoring ratio will also be maintained.
That should complement the young Lakers’ side and, with point guard Ferguson in form, it is hoped that the combination will bring out the best in Jarlath Lee’s side.
With a stronger squad now available to him coach Lee will be looking to get his rotations right and utilise the players in the best possible way.
The free weekend just past will also have afforded the squad the opportunity to work on their various plays and get a greater team understanding. It was also apparent from the opening two games that the team is playing at a higher pace which will be needed be there at the business end of the season.
Tip-off in the Killarney Sports and Leisure Centre this Saturday evening is 7.30pm.
