Covid – 19 school graduation 2020. Graduation of Sixth Class Stars with a difference as no people other than students and teachers were on School Grounds. Caherleaheen NS celebrated the graduation of its Sixth Class Stars with a difference and in two distinct parts. It began in the morning with a live Zoom Graduation meeting, where they were also joined by two pupils from France and Spain, as both pupils had returned to their home countries in haste on Friday 13th March. The Zoom finished with a blessing from Fr Séan Jones and a pre- recorded video of former and current teachers, salutations, photos and footage from their earliest years in Caherleaheen. Then all pupils travelled to Caherleaheen NS, in cars festooned with balloons and ribbons for the Graduation Presentation, where they were greeted to rapturous applause from all the school staff. Social distancing was observed throughout by all participants. Each child received a Certificate of Graduation, a hoodie printed with all 31 names and a stunning Graduation Book containing photos, letters, poetry, artwork and numerous memories. Their goodie bags had plenty of surprises and the young graduates waved goodbye and were whisked away, with smiles and tears all round. They will be greatly missed.
