RUGBY legend Ronan O’Gara has become an unofficial international ambassador for Killarney tourism.
The superstar player turned coach, a gifted outhalf and the all-time highest points scorer for Ireland, is currently on holidays in the town and yesterday he tweeted a snapshot of a family horse trek through the Gap of Dunloe with the message: “Gap of Dunloe. Kerry. Beyond beautiful”.
His tweet of praise reached a massive audience as ROG – as he is universally known – has over 388,000 followers on Twitter.
Locals immediately went online to welcome him to town and he was inundated with good wishes, dinner invitations and praise.
The Cork native, who won four Triple Crowns and two Heineken Cups in an honours-laded career, is now living in Paris where he is a respected coach with Racing 92.
On spotting O’Gara’s horse in the Gap photograph, one wit on his Twitter page couldn’t resist the temptation to ask him if he was bringing the horse to France.
