Teaching Brenda to cut her hair was a snip for Pat

Pat O’Neill gives Brenda Donohue some tuition on fringe cutting in a post shared on Facebook by the Today Show

A VASTLY experienced Killarney hair stylist had the bizarre but fun-filled experience of teaching a well-known television personality how to cut her own hair from a safe social distance – before a live audience of thousands of people.

Pat O’Neill was the special guest on the Today Show on RTÉ on Monday where hosts Daithi Ó Sé and Maura Derrane had lined up TV presenter Brenda Donohue for a quick trim.

Game-for-a-laugh Pat donned a blonde fringe hairpiece to help with the task

Game-for-a-laugh Pat even wore a blonde fringe hairpiece himself to make the task easier for a clearly nervous Brenda but, through his expert guidance, it all worked out fine and she was looking none the worse for her ordeal.

But, just in case, Pat also brought along a first aid kit to the Cork studio for fear that Brenda might not master the sharp scissors.

The show has over quarter of a million followers on social media and Pat recommended that people who might want to trim their own fringe at home should wash and blowdry their hair first, not cut it wet and don’t use a hair straightner on it.

Better still, if there is a gents’ hair trimmers at home, it might be the best and safest option for the job.
