Tea dance goes back in time

THEY rolled back the years and dusted down the best China delph for a nostalgic tea dance for senior citizens as part of the colourful Christmas in Killarney celebrations.

A wonderfully relaxing afternoon of festive treats, good music and great company was enjoyed by guests who were treated to an occasion to remember in the four-star Malton Hotel.

Old time music filled the air and those in attendance couldn’t resist the temptation to take to the dance floor for a traditional waltz or two with many proving that they still have that twinkle-toed panache.

Christmas in Killarney stalwarts Cllr Michael Gleeson, Cathal Walshe and Padraig Harnett were in big demand for those seeking dance partners and a small army of festival committee volunteers were on hand to ensure that guests were afforded the VIP treatment that they deserve.

The tea dance has become an integral part of the Christmas in Killarney celebrations and it is one of the highlights of the year for the elderly every festive season.
