Deputy Michael Healy-Rae: Address of welcome

The Irish Road Haulage Association is the representative body for the licensed haulage sector. Founded in 1973, it represents the interests of the Irish haulage industry both at home and internationally.

Key issues that are likely to be addressed at the annual conference include the ongoing impact on Brexit as new UK border restrictions are pending in October 2023 and January 2024, a pre-Budget submission, the greening of the national haulage fleet and the opportunities and challenges in transitioning to a zero carbon future and tackling excessive operating costs impacting on licensed hauliers, including fuel costs, toll charges, insurance and compliance costs.
