Regan Aparies in Killarney has won the Blas nah Éireann Gold award for its quality honey for the second year in a row.

The small artisan honey producers are thrilled to have been recognised for producing the tastiest honey in Ireland in 2023 and 2024.

The honey from Regan Aparies is harvested from the hives in early September before being capped, spun and sieved to remove big pieces of wax and pollen before jarring.

It is 100 per cent pure and natural and unfiltered and the honey still contains small particles of wax and pollen which are not visible to the naked eye and these help to combat allergens. Regan Aparies is located on a traditional farm 3km from Killarney town.

Blas na hÉreann was founded so that quality benchmarks could be established for Irish produce on a level playing field. Now in their 17th year, the awards scheme is the biggest competition for quality Irish produce in the country.

The annual event has developed into the biggest celebration of Irish food and its producer sand this year’s awards were presented in the Blas Village in Dingle.

“Making it as a finalist is a huge achievement and one to be very proud of,” said Artie Clifford, Chairperson and founder of Blas na hÉireann.
