BONFIRES blazed and cars hooted in celebration in Finuge last night as a proud parish welcomed home its newly crowned All-Ireland champions.

The small GAA club with the big talent registered a fantastic success in the All-Ireland Scór na nÓg finals in Killarney and it sparked great celebrations which lasted long into the night when the victory cavalcade rolled back home.

Finuge won the instrumental music category following a superb performance and the young musicians, Kyra O’Sullivan, Aideen Cronin, Mikey Fealy, Caoimhe and Daibhin Laide and Kieran MacKessy were the toast of the parish.

It was a proud night too for the Glenflesk ballad group of Eabha Ní Ealaithe, Sinead Ní Ghliosain, Caitlin Ní Chroinin, Sorcha Ní Mhorain and Mallaidh Ní Dhonnchu and the bright spark members of the Spa question time team, Emer O’Keeffe, Ian Coffey, Seán Hickey and Donal Hickey. They didn’t bring home the top prize but they acquitted themselves with considerable aplomb in the national finals.

Over 1,600 crowd people packed the INEC for the occasion and they were treated to a feast of song, drama, dance and music.
