Super Clifford boys keep it in the family

IT did the rounds on social media overnight that the small but proud parish of Fossa can now boast that the local GAA club has more All-Stars in 2021 than the mighty Dublin team.

Brilliant brothers Paudie and David Clifford brought honour and glory to the parish by their inclusion in the dream team with Paudie selected at centre forward and younger brother David claiming the number 14 jersey.

It was no more than they deserved following a glorious season in which they set new standards and, was it not for the semi-final loss to Tyrone, Paudie was on course to be a real contender for the player of the year accolade which would have been a mighty achievement for a player in his first year competing at senior inter-county level.

Fossa, again, continues to punch above its weight in the GAA and now the small parish on the outskirts of Killarney town can boast two All-Stars as well as a former President of the GAA as Seán Kelly resides there.

22-year-old David was collecting his third All-Star and Paudie his first and the double All-Star success was a particularly proud moment for their parents Dermot and Ellen and their sister Shelly.

There were celebrations too in Dingle where the brilliant Tom O’Sullivan won an All-Star for his terrific displays as an attacking corner back.
