The annual Dingle Marathon took place at the weekend with over 4.000 participants from all over the country – and several from overseas – arriving to test their pace and stamina along the spectacular course.

The full and half marathons started at 9.00am and the route took in the dramatic Dingle Peninsula with the full marathon over 26.2 miles and the half marathon covering a distance of 13.1 miles.

It was the only day in the year when vehicular traffic was removed from Slea Head immersing runners in the natural beauty of the Dingle Peninsula on the Wild Atlantic Way.

The event – one of the social highlights of the year in west Kerry – was held in glorious sunshine and Dingle town came alive with an incredible atmosphere with many enjoying the experience of a lifetime.
