Sunshine ensures races are deemed a winner alright

IT’S summertime – the livin’ is far from easy but life goes on.

And so it was at Killarney Races yesterday as a shirt-sleeved crowd turned out to enjoy the great traditions associated with the gathering at Ross Road.

The number of punters allowed through the gates was limited for Covid control purposes but those that did make it thoroughly enjoyed a day of great racing and sizzling sunshine.

Despite the limited numbers, there was a wonderful atmosphere at the trace and the only downer on the day was the injury sustained by champion jockey Rachael Blackmore who was brought to hospital.

Killarney town was buzzing on the day of the races with the restaurants and pubs offering an outdoor dining option enjoying a really brisk trade with queues forming outside many premises.
