Sunday Solstice trek is off the agenda

The Paps of Anú

On the advice of mountaineering guide leader Donie Mulcahy, the charity Sunday Solstice trek on the Paps of Anú, on the Cork/Kerry border, due to take place on this weekend, has been now cancelled.

Adverse weather conditions are being forecast for the weekend and it is hoped the event can be rescheduled for 2023.

Derry Healy, one of the organisers is suggesting that, instead, people should join a special charity fundraiser planned for St Stephen’s Day which will see the Sam Maguire being carried to the top of the Paps mountains in aid of the Kerry-Cork cancer link bus and the Brian Lawlor Trust.

Participants will gather at Glenflesk GAA clubhouse at 9.30am on December 2h and then on to the 690m peak of the western Pap.
