Students of tomorrow learn what’s in store

FIFTH and sixth class pupils from the town’s primary schools were given the royal tour of the state-of-the-art facilities at Killarney Community College on its annual open night as students and staff showed off the various classrooms, laboratories and extra-curricular areas.

And they were also introduced to a rather rare commodity called elephant toothpaste which as created by the science students on a rather interesting day in the lab while visitors also got to witness and take part in the dissection of hearts, kidneys and livers.

Principal Stella Loughnane, in her address to the 400 plus attendance, said Killarney Community College is a very progressive school and it is the first in Killarney to have adopted one-hour classes.

She said the first cohort of students just completed their new Junior Cycle exam and excellent results were achieved.

Killarney Community College fully embraces new technologies and has recently implemented the innovative computer system Microsoft 365 which is helping the students be prepared for the future world of learning and work. Currently students are communicating, on a daily basis, with their teachers through the Microsoft system.
