Students left behind because the bus was full

students have again been left behind at MTU due to the bus been almost full on arrival at campus

There has been calls for repeated capacity issues on the 272 bus route from Ballybunion to Tralee to be addressed.

Kerry TD, Pa Daly, said students have again been left behind at MTU due to the bus been almost full on arrival at campus.

“The bus leaves the station at approximately 5.20pm and arrives at campus at approximately 5.40pm and I have learned a number of students were left behind this week,” he said.

Deputy Pa Daly: Will raise the issue with the minister

Deputy Daly said when he and Cllr Tom Barry highlighted the issue last year, a meeting took place with Bus Éireann management where they agreed to put on a larger bus.

“However, I understand this larger bus is now in use on another route and will not be used for the full term.

“Bus Éireann have said that they had made the NTA aware of the situation and have claimed they are not responsible,” he said.

Deputy Daly said he will raise this with the Minister for Transport at the earliest opportunity.

“The Green Party cannot claim to be serious about rural mobility and climate change when students are being left stranded at the roadside,” he remarked.
