Students and staff jump at the chance to help charity

THERE was Santa Claus and there were snowmen, reindeer and Christmas trees of all shapes and sizes on show as students and staff at a Killarney secondary school donned their festive jumpers for a good cause.

St Brigid’s Secondary School opted to do so to raise funds, through their own donations, for the palliative care unit at University Hospital Kerry and what they raised was used to purchase Christmas presents for the patients there.

The event was organised by the school’s student council members Saoirse Coffey, Yen Leniston, Tara Donnellan, Amy Walshe, Hollie Spellman and teacher Carol O’Dowd and it created a real festive season atmosphere in the school leading up to the annual holidays.

St Brigid’s was just one of many schools in the greater Killarney area to support Christmas jumper day with  St Brendan’s College, Killarney Community College, The Monastery, Holy Cross Mercy and St Francis Special School also involved.
