Killarney Rugby Football Club News
Killarney Rugby Club’s seniors took on Chorca Dhuibhne in the first round of the McElligott Cup at Aghadoe and the home team were much stronger on the day.
Ger Moynihan’s men were dominant right across the pitch, scoring three tries to win on a scoreline of 15-3. Winger Brendan Fuller opened the scoring after a lovely kick from Paul O’Sullivan opened up the Dingle backline. Mike Sheahan missed the conversion but he added two tries of his own.
All in all, the boys will take a lot of positives out of the first outing of the new season. A huge match awaits next weekend as we host Castleisland at Aghadoe next Sunday at 2.30pm in the first round of Division 2 of the Munster Junior League.
Minis: The club’s minis returned to training last Saturday morning at Knockreer, welcoming many new players aged between five and 12. It is really encouraging to see so many new boys and in particular new girls play rugby as we develop our girls section. Training continues at Knockreer between 10.30am and 12 noon. Contact coordinator Liam Murphy on 087-4145662 for details.
Membership: Membership fees are now due and must be paid before our cut-off date of September 30. They can be paid online at www.krfc.club/membershp. The club will have a registration table at minis training if anyone wants to pay on the day.
Family: Unfortunately, despite our best efforts, the already postponed family had to be cancelled due to the bad weather as the pitches at Aghadoe were deemed unsuitable following the heavy rain last week. We would like to thank everyone who put so much time and effort into organising the day. So many people put their shoulder to the wheel to work on the family day, so thanks to one and all.
