STRICTLY sensational is the only word to describe the huge sum of money raised by the participants in this year’s sell-out Strictly Come Dancing stageshow in Killarney.
They generated a whopping €56,045 for the Killarney and South Kerry branch of the Irish Cancer Society when their exploits attracted in excess of 2,000 people to the INEC for the big night in February.
It was the second year of the Strictly event and this year’s offering – Strictly at the Movies – was every bit if not more successful than the 2014 inaugural show.
Dancers, choreographers and the backstage crew devoted several hours over many weeks to ensure the routines were perfected and it paid off as they delivered a show to be proud of.
The ultimate prize on the night went to Killanrey Garda Aoife Dolan-Twomey and car hire tycoon Liam Colleran who stole the show with a sexy, sleek routine.
Other dancers put through their paces by choreographer Joe Burkett were Shella O’Donoghue-McSweeney and Richie Fitzgerald, Mary Cronin and Timmy Moynihan, Vera Healy and Mike Doyle, Danielle Favier and Kieran O’Halloran, Christina Tangney and Gavin O’Leary, Mary Hartnett Cussen and Dermot Healy, Elaine Cronin and Liam McCarthy, Margaret McCarthy and Dan McCarthy, Marie Carroll O’Sullivan and Niall O’Sullivan, Michelle O’Donoghue and Conor Gleeson and Maria Coffey and Johnny Brosnan.
