Putting their own stamp on proceedings, An Post Killarney retail clerks Mary O’Shea, Geraldine Teahan, Anne Clifford, Margaret O’Connor, Christine Fleming, Amanda Lyne and Liz Spillane were collectively announced as winners at the annual Values in Practice awards ceremony held in An Post’s new headquarters at the EXO in Dublin.

Killarney branch manager, Sean Byrne, and the recently retired former manager, Liam Hartnett, who nominated the branch for the award, closed the post office doors on Friday evening and they all made their way to the Killarney Avenue Hotel to celebrate their success.
“The staff successfully worked as a team to ensure Killarney exceeded all operational and sales targets,” said Liam Hartnett.

“Their combined efforts resulted in a prevented an armed robbery attempt, amazing customer service facilitating the largest Ukrainian refugee population outside of Dublin and a 172 per cent increase in social welfare payments,” he explained.

“As a team they achieved over 150 per cent on average on sales targets for An Post products. I think they deserved the award,” a proud Liam added.

Staff member Mary O’Shea said the recognition was fabulous for the town and the community.

“It is wonderful to achieve any award as part of a team but recognition at a national award ceremony is much like your personal All-Ireland,” she remarked.
