THE Marian Players Rathmore are ready to present their 29th annual pantomime, Babes in the Wood, which opens in the Community Centre on Saturday at 7.30pm with matinees on the following two Sundays at 3.00pm.
There are additional night shows on Wednesday, January 27, Thursday, January 28 and Saturday, January 30 at 7.30pm. The booking office number is 064-7758526 or contact Mary on 085-8255315. Admission: Adults €12/Children €8. All proceeds will go to the local services of the Kerry Parents and Friends Association.

Social: Knocknagree GAA’s annual social will be held on Saturday. January 30 in the Gleneagle Hotel. Killarney at 7.30pm. Three teams will be honoured on the night: 1966 (50 years) first time winners of Duhallow Championship; 1991 (25 years) Cork County Junior Champions and the 2015 Duhallow champions. Tickets are €25 and they will be on sale in the Community Centre on Friday night from 8.00pm.

Lotto: Gneeveguilla Athletic Club’s yearly lotto tickets are now due for renewal as is club membership. The Operation Transformation Million Pound Loss continues every Monday and Wednesday at 7.00pm at the Gneeveguilla GAA track.

Comhaltas: Sult na nÓg competitions will take place over the weekend of February 27/28, with music and singing on the Saturday 27 in IT Tralee and set and ceilí on the Sunday in Fossa Community Centre.

Games: Rathmore-Gneeveguilla Community Games wants anyone interested in taking part in  the under 13 indoor soccer to note that the county finals take place on February 7 so please contact one of our Committee members.

Collection: Gneeveguilla Community Alert’s church gate collection will be taken up in Gneeveguilla on this weekend.

School: Holy Family National School, Rathmore will hold an enrolment for new pupils on Wednesday, February 17 at 1.00pm.

Council: The topics discussed at the Rathmore Community Council meeting on Tuesday last included Irish Rail’s early services, GP services for Rathmore, litter collecting, developing office space, church gate collection plans and 1916 Commemoration and monument plans. Those with any topics to be brought to attention of organisations or companies contact any member of Rathmore Community Council.
Quiz: Rathmore Ravens Basketball Club will hold a juvenile quiz on Thursday, February 4 at 7.30pm in Teach Iosagain. The event is open to third, fourth, fifth and sixth class primary
school classes. The entry fee for a table of four is €20.

Basketball: In the boys’ under 12 division 3 clash, it finished Rathmore Ravens 31 St Brendans 19. This was the third successive win by this young Rathmore team who seem to have found their groove since the pool games. They started well with baskets from Ciaran Collins, Darragh Nagle and Michael Dennehy giving them a six-point lead in the first quarter. Great defence work by Cian Twomey, David McCarthy and Jack Buckley thwarted the opposition’s scoring attempts. Grea rebounding by Michael McSweeney, ably assisted by Kasper Kaminski and Dinny Murphy, under the boards ensured Rathmore were ahead by the final whistle.
Rathmore Ravens hosted St Josephs on Sunday last in what was a truly excellent contest by two very good teams and Rathmore won 67-60.Rathmore team: James Darmody, Denis O’Connor, Ian O’Connor, Anthony Darmody, Sean Clifford, Darragh Rahilly, Dan Murphy, Derry McCarthy and Paul Cremin. The coach was George O’Keeffe.
