ART students in a Killarney secondary school have enthusiastically embraced a nationwide initiative to show appreciation for all those working on the frontline so that they can stay safe at home.
Under the direction of art teacher, Alice Quilter, students from first year up to Leaving Cert let their creative juices flow and got involved in the Hearts for Heroes project which was launched by a teacher in Dublin who pitched the idea to other art teachers on their online sharing forum.

The submission deadline from schools throughout the country is this Friday and suggestions being considered for all the artwork is an installation display, sets of thank you cards which could be sent to frontline workers, a billboard display or a wall display outside of schools.
The final decision will be made once the teacher leading the nationwide project determines what is most practically possible.
For the St Brigid’s collection itself, which has been added to a nationwide display of hearts, it is hoped to display the work in school when they reopen.
