Spraoi to keep Killarney toe tapping

A SUMMER programme of high-quality traditional entertainment, for the benefit of visitors and locals, will be formally launched this weekend and it will hit the high notes right through the holiday season.

This is the 13th season of Spraoi Chiarrai which has focused on singing, dancing, storytelling and music, both indoors and in the open air, every year.

It features a series of free summer concerts in St Mary’s Church of Ireland as well as live outdoor performances in the grounds of Killarney House.

The stars of the show include local musician Tim O’Shea and friends, including seanchai Ray O’Sullivan from Spa.

Supported by Killarney Chamber of Tourism and Commerce, all events will be on Saturdays, including night time concerts in St Mary’s Church of Ireland on June 10 and 24, July 22 and August 5 and 26.

Afternoon open air performances at Killarney House will be on July 8 and August 19.

The series will be formally launched by Killarney Chamber of Tourism and Commerce President, Paul O’Neill, at Killarney House and Gardens this Sunday at 4.00pm.
