FOUR people were apprehended by Gardai in Killarney shortly before lunchtime today following a burglary at a private house in Kilcummin.
The four, all males and understood to be in their 30s, were stopped and arrested in the Scartaglin area. Two are currently being detained at Killarney Garda Station, another is being held in Tralee and a fourth is being questioned in Listowel Garda Station.
The men, who are from outside Kerry, were travelling in a silver Ford Galaxy, with a partial registration of 10-D, when they were intercepted.
Superintendent Flor Murphy of Killarney Garda Station said the arrests were significant in the context of tackling a recent upsurge in burglaries in Killarney and the surrounding areas and, possibly, in other parts of Kerry.
Gardaí are anxious to hear from anybody that may have noticed a Ford Galaxy fitting that description anywhere in the county either last night or anytime this Wednesday morning.
The men may have checked into accommodation in the county overnight and the description of the vehicle might jog people’s memories as Gardaí want to trace their movements in the time leading up to the arrests.
