Speed on road causes Woodlawn worry

Cllr John Sheahan: asked for speed ramps

CONCERN has been voiced for the safety of children attempting to cross a busy roadway at Woodlawn in Killarney and consideration is to be given to installing speed ramps in the densely populated residential area.

Cllr John Sheahan has told Kerry County Council officials that vehicles are travelling Woodlawn road at great speeds and there are worries for children going to and from St Oliver’s primary school and the Killarney Athletic FC grounds.

He has suggested the installation of raised platform speed ramps and a pedestrian crossing as the most practical solution amid growing safety concerns.

Council officials said they will carry out a speed survey in the vicinity of the Killarney Athletic grounds to assess what traffic calming measures are required.
