The various award winners – including player of the year and young player of the year – weren’t the only winners at the annual Spa GAA Club awards that mark great achievements of its members on and off the field.

The stylish event, held in Hilliard’s Restaurant in Killarney, also raised essential funds for a cause that is close to the hearts of many of the club members.

A collection on the night generated an impressive €800 for the Killarney and South Kerry branch of the Irish Cancer Society who have done wonderful work when helping individuals and families in need.

The Covid-19 pandemic put a halt to one of the charity’s big fundraising events – the Strictly Come Dancing initiative – for a number of years so all donations at this time are especially welcome and will be put to very good use.
