Kerry County Council has been advised by Transport Infrastructure Ireland that it can continue to design and proceed to tender stage for four key national roads projects and Active Travel schemes that had been placed on hold.
The projects are the Lackabane pavement scheme in Fossa (€240,000), the Kilalee pavement scheme (€350,000), the creamery cross to Kenneigh pavement scheme (€800,000) and the Kenmare to Bonane pavement scheme (€750,000).
Transport Infrastructure Ireland is currently undertaking a review of planned expenditure for 2024 and the council has been instructed that work may continue on the preparation of pavement asset repair and renewal reports and detailed designs as well as tender documents for the schemes.
Once the review of planned expenditure has been completed, TII anticipates being in a position to provide further clarification in relation to the progression of the four schemes.
The news has been welcomed by Cllrs Brendan Cronin and Niall Kelleher.
