MEK United FC News

Under 14: MEK United’s under 14s lost 5-2 to Castleisland but it was a great effort in atrocious conditions. On a deep muddy pitch with driving wind and rain, MEK had a sublime start with Kevin Harant finishing in style from a through ball from Eddie Moroney. This was followed shortly after by a penalty as a result of the upending of Sam Griffin in the box, which Eddie Moroney converted to leave it 2-0 to MEK.
Castleisland hit back with two goals before half time, however, and in spite of a gallant effort in defence, Castleisland’s size and strength won out. In the second half they adopted much better to the appalling conditions, notching two more goals early in the half and finished MEK off with an unstoppable top corner goal.
MEK: Charlie Keating, Matthew Hunt, Conor Crowley (capt), Mason Courtney, Tadhg O’Sullivan, Sam Griffin, Leo Healy, Sam Buckley, Steven O’Brien, Kevin Harant, Eddie Moroney. Subs: Darragh O’Brien, Con Linehan, Conor Harty, Scott Drew.
Under 12: In Division 2 it finished Killarney Athletic B 6 MEK 2. We were very unlucky to be 3-1 down at half-time given the many chances we created. MEK brought it back to 3-2 but ran out of steam for the last 15 minutes on a heavy pitch. Areat effort from all. MEK’s scorers were Eoghan Bolger and Scott Carlton.
Fixtures: Under 11 Friendly: MEK v Iveragh, on Saturday at 1.30pm in Fossa.
Under 13 Division 2: MEK v Mastergeeha B, on Saturday at 12 noon in Fossa.
