Under 17 FAI Cup: Douglas Hall A 2 Killarney Athletic 0. The under 17s went down 2-0 to a very strong Douglas Hall team on Sunday. Athletic were missing influential players on the day but battled hard. Douglas Hall took the lead early on through a header using their height superiority to their advantage. Athletic had numerous chances but the Cork keeper was outstanding. In the final minute when Athletic went gung ho, Douglas scored on the counter attack.
Under 13 A: Killarney Athletic A 3 Iveragh 3. Killarney Athletic’s Under 13 A side continued their unbeaten run with a terrific comeback against a strong Iveragh in their premier league game played in Woodlawn last Saturday.
After a keenly contested opening half Athletic fell behind to an opportunistic goal despite good defending by Oran Daly, Oscar McCarthy, Paddy Foley and Tom Healy. Athletic equalised following a pass from Rocco Sheehan and a superb run and finish from Alex Hennigan.
Despite good play from the Coffey cousins, Josh and Donnacha, and Oisin Lynch and Neil O’Carroll Athletic conceded two goals against the run of play and Dara O’Brien made a few good saves in goal to keep us in the game.
Athletic brought on three subs, Tom Benson Cillian Ó’Connor and Dónal Hickey, who all played well and a penalty by Alex Hennigan made it 3-2. With a minute to go a fine pass by Cillian Ó’Connor found Alex in space who finished to the net and completed his hat-trick to force a draw which was a fair result on the day and completed a great comeback.
This newly promoted team are doing really well and are unbeaten in three games in a very competitive division. Speedy recovery to star defender Michi Lynch who unfortunately fractured his wrist the previous night. Well done to all the boys on a great comeback.
Under 13 League: Killarney Athletic B travelled to St Brendan’s Park, Tralee with a very under strength team and duly came away pointless, however Athletic put in a strong second half performance even though sustaining a couple of injuries just coming up short on the day. All players on view giving their all.

MEK United
Under 11: MEK 4 Iveragh 4. In an absolute cracker of an under 11 game, MEK started really well and were 4-0 up at one point, playing some really good passing football and working really hard. Iveragh came right back into the game in the second half and clawed their way back to 4-4. MEK kept going and could have grabbed a winner right at the end.
Two goals from Noah O’Shea and each for James Clifford and Eanna Murphy made the difference for MEK.
Under 14: Celtic B 4 v MEK 4. On a perfect morning for a game of soccer, both teams created lots of chances and our goalkeeper Dean Sheehan was kept busy keeping the ball out of the net while making some fantastic saves.
The first half ended 0-0 due to a good defence led by Conor Crowley and a special mention to the hard working forwards, especially Conor Harty.
Not long into the second half Celtic were 2-0 up. MEK continued to run at the Celtic defence to pressurise them and this eventually payed off with a cracking volley from outside the box by Eddie Moroney to make it 2-1. Shortly after that Kevin Harant took a shot which ended up in the net to level it at 2-2.
Midway through the second half MEK went ahead as a result of a top class free kick by Eddie Moroney. Undeterred, Celtic answered back with two successful attacks which resulted in two goals and Celtic led 4 – 3.
In the dying moments of the game a penalty was awarded for a challenge on Leo Healy and same was dispatched to the back of the Celtic net by Kevin Harant.
A big thank you to all the supporters who travelled the Celtic manager Sean McAlister and his team for their generous hospitality and a cracking challenge.
Under 13: MEK 1 Mastergeeha 1.
