Killarney Athletic News compiled by Mary McCarrick
A TERRIFIC performance from our A squad on Sunday last helped us to a 3-0 win over Listowel who are going well in the premier division.
From the first whistle, the Killarney boys got on top and played lovely soccer. The Doolan brothers, Shane and Jamie, along with Danny Healy, bossed midfield, while Shane Lynch and Chris O’Meara were moving well up front,
Cillian Fitzgerald and Ciaman Mangan, meanwhile, were raiding down the wings, putting Listowel on the back foot.
We scored our first goal on the stroke of half time when a Cillian Fitzgerald shot was finished to the net by O’Meara. A fast start to the second half from Athletic and a second goal from Chris put us in a great position and a superb 25 yard free kick from Shane Doolan that six goalkeepers wouldn’t have got to was the icing on the cake.
Reilly, Crowley and O’Regan were in top form at the back while Rafa dealt confidently with anything thrown at him. It was easily our boys’ best performance of the season and well done to all players and subs.

U15 Cup and League: Inter Kenmare 1 Killarney Celtic B 0
The lads came very close and a draw might have been a fair result, but fair play to an excellent Kenmare side and we wish them well going forward.
U14 Cup: Park 3 Killarney Celtic 0
One of those days. Celtic gave it everything in a great effort, but Park had the better of us and won fair and square. Mark Kelliher, David Dineen, Mike Lenihan, Evan Looney, and Peter O’Sullivan did best for Celtic. Unfortunately, David Dineen got injured and we wish him a speedy recovery.
U14 Shield quarter- final: St Bernards 3 Killarney Celtic B 1
St Bernards scored an early penalty and also got a great goal from distance, a wonderful strike. Tommy McGuire scored a cracker for us and we completely dominated possession but just couldn’t get through for goals. Good performance that wasn’t reflected in the result, well done to St Bernards
